Nigeria will beat Iceland and Argentina to qualify – Gernot Rohr

Super Eagles coach,Gernot Rohrhas lifted the spirit of Nigerians after the team’s loss in their World Cup opening game to Croatia. Andaccording to him, the Super Eagles will defeat Iceland andArgentina in their next matches.
Speaking to pressmen, he said:‘’Everything is possible in football. “It’s important to make at least four points if you want to qualify,” Rohr added.
“We are only a point behind for the moment, nothing is lost and all is in our hands.
“Let’s be positive, we have the youngest team at the World Cup, let them learn and try to do better.
“We saw Iceland have a good game against Argentina, a very strong team, but we can also do better than what we did in the match
“We have to win against Iceland but all is possible still. If we win the next game all is possible for qualification.
”Earlier, Gernot Rohr defended the tactics he employed against Croatia which was heavily criticized as the team lost 2-0.“We didn’t concede in normal play, we conceded only two goals from set pieces.
This is not a question of tactics or system.
Our system was okay, we cannot play with three (at the back) when there is only one centre forward.
“We played with four defenders because there were three Croatian strikers who are very strong. I was satisfied with the organisation of the team but what we missed in the game is being professional from set pieces.
Each game is different. We know we can play with three centre backs but it was not a goodday (Saturday) to do that.”
