Pastor Sam Adeyemi weighs on tithing, Daddy Freeze praises him on social media

Pastor Adeyemi says tithe is not by force, Daddy Freeze reacts

Pastor Sam Adeyemi has earned Daddy Freeze’s praise for his latest statement on the payment of tithe.

Daily Post reports that the Senior Pastor of Daystar Church shared his thoughts on the importance of tithing during Sunday service.
Speaking to the congregation, Pastor Adeyemi said that tithing is not mandatory, adding that there is no longer a curse attached to not paying it.
His explanation: “Since we are under a new covenant, giving is a choice. Everyone should decide the percentage they want to pay with the knowledge that you will be blessed based on how you give.”
The cleric went on to encourage Christians to avoid being forced or pressured into paying their tithe.

This remark caught the eye of controversial OAP and convenor of the free sheeple movement, Daddy Freeze.

Pastor Adeyemi on tithing

This is not the first the Daystar senior pastor has spoken on the highly-debated issue of tithing.
In a 2017 interview with The Guardian’s Sunday Magazine, he said, “…The main thing with tithe is that there is a principle. The 10 percent principle predated the laws of Moses; it is a very powerful principle. As to where to pay your tithe, the major thing it was used for before in the Old Testament, though there are other small things, was the running of the temple and maintenance of the priests.
“However, things have now changed. We have churches that have been registered and incorporated with the government, so they need to be run and maintained. So, the average person that is getting value from the church needs to support its existence. It is the fair deal so to speak.
“God’s ordained church needs to take care of the people there. In the New Testament, especially in Acts chapter 2, we saw the apostles making sure that nobody goes to bed hungry, that is the rule we have in our church. So, nobody in this church, no matter their class or where they come from must go to bed hungry. It’s money and resources that we use to do that.”
Meanwhile, the Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare just said that “tithing is not compulsory.”
He adds: “No one should feel compelled to pay, no one is holding a gun to their head. Churches, where pastors are becoming fat and the members, are growing lean, God will judge them.”
Tithing remains a highly controversial and talked about subject in Nigeria.
