Vincent Enyeama Rules Self out of World Cup

The campaign to have former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama return to the side ahead of theWorld Cupreceived a blow Tuesday following reports that he hsdw ruled himself out of reckoning for the Mundial scheduled for Russia in 2018.
This comes after ex-Eagles goalie Peterside Idah claimed that Enyeama told him in a conversation that he is tired of playing for Nigeria and will not be returning to the team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup despite popular demand.
The clamour to have Enyeama return to the team peaked recently in the wake of shaky performances by selected goalies following the ailment toformer no 1 Carl Ikeme. While Eagles coach Gernot Rohr claimed the Lille goalkeeper was considering a return, Idah said that may not be happening as the former captain said he’s done with international football,Vanguardwrites.
“I was one of those who spoke to Enyeama when there was an attempt to get him back to the national team and he told me he’s tired of playing for Nigeria,”South Africa-based Idah said.“So, there should be no Enyeama (going to the World Cup).
The players should have the love to play for Nigeria and not the love to play at the World Cup and make history,”he added.“Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Francis Uzoho should beable to stand, but the choice was up to the coaches.
“Ezenwa appears to be the No 1 now after what he did in the qualifiers, but he is not world-class.“Uzoho is better than him and I believe the training camp before the World Cup will determine who is really No 1,” Idah had concluded Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr recently traversed Europe, particularly his native Germany in search of a new goalkeeper for the Eagles as the World Cup draws near.
