Jose Mourinho sends emotional farewell message to Wayne Rooney



Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has paid special tribute to club’s all-time scoringleader and legend Wayne Rooney after the forward ended his long association with the Red Devils and returned to boyhood club Everton.
The Toffees have announced Rooney’s transfer on Sunday afternoon, with the 31-year-old Englishman signing a two-year contract deal at his new club, while Romelu Lukaku is expected to move the other way in a separate £75m deal.
Although Jose Mourinho only managed Rooney for one season – a season in which he only started 15 Premier League matches – the Portuguese manager insists his presence will besorely missed at Old Trafford.
During his interview with club’s official website, Mourinho said: ‘It is no secret that I have long been an admirer of Wayne.‘He has been a model professional throughout his time at the club and will remain in the historybooks for many years to come.
‘It is never easy to see a great player playing lessfootball than he would like and I could not stand in his way when he asked to go back to Everton. 
His experience, focus and determination will be missed and I wish him well for the future.’
