Federer Destroys Zverev to Set up Wawrinka Semi Showdown

Roger Federer demolished Mischa Zverev 6-1 7-5 6-2 with an imperious display of court generalship to return to theAustralian Opensemifinal in a little over an hour and half on Tuesday.
In continuation of his sensational comeback aftera six-month injury layoff that ended this January, Federer, 35, completely tamed his 29-year-old German opponent who sent shock waves across the world of tennis after ousting world no 1 and top seed Andy Murray on Sunday.
With the crowd cheering loudly, Federer, looking close to his mesmeric best, unfurled an array of breathtaking winners and thunderous aces to endthe fairytale run of Zverev as he makes his 13th semifinal appearances in Melbourne.
The victory sets up a mouthwatering last four clash against compatriot and 2014 Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka who earlier dumped Frenchman Jo Wilfried Tsonga 7-6(2) 6-4 6-3 in a bad-tempered match.
It’s a third semifinal appearance for three-time Grand Slam winner Wawrinka in Melbourne, and he goes up against his more illustrious compatriot who dumped him in their last slam meeting at this same stage in the 2015 US Open.
