Wayne Rooney reveals the role that Jose Mourinho wants him to play for Man United

Wayne Rooney has been told by Mourinho that he will be playing in the No. 10 role in the coming season. The England and Manchester United captainstarted to play in that position last season when Van Gaal tweaked his system and excelled in it.With the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, there was a lot of questions of where Rooney would play but the striker himself has cleared up any doubts. TheManchester Eveningnews spoke to the striker about his new role.“As he said to the press, he said to me about playing No.10. That is something I’ve now got to work on and get myself in the right position to score goals. I have scored goals all through my careerand I have no doubt in my goalscoring ability. Hopefully I can do that this season.”Rooney did not have the best of campaigns last season. He played as the main striker for a while with little success and was then forced to watch from the sidelines halfway through the season with an injury. When he came back Louis Van Gaal used him as the team’s playmaker where he had considerable success. Rooney has rejoined his team in China for pre-season training as Mourinho puts them through their paces ahead of the Manchester Derby on the 25th.
