The World Stands With Turkey as Suicide Bombers Blow up Istanbul Airport Leaving at Least 36 Dead, 140 Injured

At least 36 people have died and more than 140 have been injured in a gruesome bomb and gun attack on Istanbul’s busiestairport, Ataturk international airport, on Tuesday night.According to officials, 3 attackers opened fire at the entrance of the international terminal and later went on to blow themselves up after the police fired back atthem.BBCreports that Turkey’s Prime Minister, Binali Yildirim, noted that early signs suggested the bombing was carried out by the Islamic State (IS).Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in condemning the attack, noted that it took place during the Muslim fast in the holy month of Ramadan.He said it “shows that terrorism strikes with no regard to faith and values,” and went on to state that“Turkey has the power, determination and capacity to continue the fight against terrorism until the end,” while calling on the international community to take a firm stand against terrorism.Social media is agog with condolence messages from around the world and several World leaders have condemned the attack. The US called it“heinous”saying America remained“steadfast in our support for Turkey”and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said;“Wegrieve for the victims.
