At the 70th session of the U.N General assembly, President Obama started in a magnanimous mood, admitting to being open to the possibility of working with Russia to end the crisis in Syria. Unfortunately, Obama’s opposite partner was did not share such mellow sentiments, he didn’t take long to take his early jabs, “we all know that at the end of the cold war, a single center of domination emerged in the world. And then those who found themselves at the top of the pyramid were tempted to think that if we are so strong and exceptional then we know better than any one what to do and why at all should we reckon with the UN ”They thought they knew better and thought they did not have to reckon with the UN to legitimize their decisions,” he added. On the issue of Syria, Putin disagreed with Obama and accused America of arming moderate rebels and instead sided with the Syrian government.“We think it is an enormous mistake to refuse to cooperate with the Syrian government and its armed forces, who are valiantly fighting terrorism face to face,”
