Prison Worker Who Helped Inmates Escape Sentenced To Up To 7 Years

Joyce Mitchell, a worker at the Clinton correctional facility broke down in tears at her sentencing in court today. Joyce Mitchell was directly responsible for helping two convicted killers break out of jail in June.Richard Matt and David Sweat, both serving sentences for murder, were assisted by Mitchell in their daring June 6 escape which eventually proved fruitless as Richard Matt was shot and killed by officers in the manhunt which ensued.Joyce Mitchell took a plea bargain and will face up to 7 years in prison and she might well have to pay$120,000 in damages to the correctional facility.Mitchell expressed her regrets at her actions and she broke down in tears as the judge handed down her sentence.
